Today at Tamarack, expect unusual conditions due to an out-of-season SSW swell (202 degrees) that might not align perfectly with the spot's usual west/northwest sweet spot, along with a strong 16 mph westerly onshore wind that's shifted from the typical offshore easterlies. While the swell boasts an excellent 12.3-second period, which usually signals quality, the persistent onshore wind will likely chop up the wave faces, creating disorganized, mushy waves despite their underlying power. This makes for a challenging session best suited for experienced beginners and intermediates looking to battle through the chop, as true beginners might find it too frustrating. The current 3.2 ft tide is favorable for the reef break's shape, but there's no ideal wind window today; any session will involve fighting the onshore mess. Be aware that the combination of the unusual swell direction and strong onshore winds could lead to unpredictable wave behavior and a significantly more demanding paddle-out and ride experience, regardless of the moderate wave height.
